Join us for a series of beautiful music and worship events as we celebrate the birth of our Lord, the season of hope and the dawning of the new year.

 

Sunday, Dec 4, Advent II
5:00 pm - Advent Procession with Lessons and Carols.
Join the St. Cecilia Choir of girls and men as they make their annual Advent pilgrimage throughout the Chapel and Cathedral. The choir’s journey throughout the cathedral symbolizes the great season of preparation in anticipation of the coming of Christ. This service includes the music of Charles Wood, Herbert Howells, Palestrina, and singing of the “Great O Antiphons”.  This is one of the treasures of Cathedral Music and is an experience not to be missed.

 


Sunday, Dec 11, Advent III
5:00 pm - Mañanitas para la Virgen de Guadalupe/Serenade to Our Lady of Guadalupe
- Don't miss this unique, bilingual event presented by The Guadalupe Art Program followed by an exhibit of art and altars honoring Our Lady. A reception in the Great Hall follows.

4:30 pm - A Ceremony of Carols by Benjamin Britten
, sung by the St. Cecilia Girl Choir with harp
5:00 pm - Christmas Lessons & Carols — The Cathedral Choristers announce the arrival of Christmas in word and song as they present their annual Festival of Lessons and Carols.  Please arrive early for best seating.
 

 

Saturday, Dec 24, Christmas Eve
5:00 pm - Carols for the City
—Bilingual Family Service with the Cathedral Choristers and the St. Cecilia Choir. The Holy Eucharist (in English and Spanish) with carol singing.  Don't miss this delightful combination of a Christmas Carol service, and a truncated Mass, structured around young children and their families. Approximately 45 minutes in duration, this service contains significant offerings from both choirs, as well as an opportunity for children to come up to the High Altar and participate in the communion portion of the service. The service is a bi-lingual setting (English/Spanish) and features several beautiful Spanish carols.

10:30 pm - Christmas “Midnight” Mass
with Bishop James Mathes, Presider, The Very Rev. Scott Richardson as Preacher, the Cathedral Choir, and instrumentlists.
