Feast and Faith: The Wedding Banquet, Ages 11-18 (10/15/17)
For this week’s dinner discussion, we are looking at a banquet feast, when many were invited, but few came. Below is a prayer with which to start your meal and then discussion questions to explore this topic with your family while you eat.
Prayer - Grant us, Lord, not to be anxious about earthly things, but to love things heavenly; and even now, while we are placed among things that are passing away, to hold fast to those that shall endure; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever. Amen.

Discussion – In Matthew 22:1-14 Jesus tells us a parable, or a story, about a wedding feast. Here, the King has invited many people to a wedding banquet. Though many were invited, very few chose to come.
- What does the wedding represents?
- How do you think the wedding banquet represents heaven?
- Why are people not listening to the king’s message?
- How is God inviting us today to the wedding feast?
- In what ways are we ignoring the wedding banquet before us?
Final nugget – We can’t earn our way into heaven. Heaven and salvation are a free gift that God gives us. Jesus already did the work by dying for our sins on the cross. This story reminds us that we can go to the wedding banquet if we are clothed in Christ’s righteousness, we just have to be willing to receive His invitation.
