2006 New Faces
The Rev. Canon Jack E. Lindquist is a minister of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America who was ordained in 1963. He has served his entire ministry in San Diego: as the pastor of three congregations, a teacher in Biblical and Reformation studies at the University of San Diego, a leader of summer study tours in “the world of the New Testament,” and an advocate of ecumenical and inter-faith relations. In November of 2001 the Chapter and Dean made him an Honorary Canon of St. Paul’s Cathedral in November in recognition for his work toward the ELCA-Episcopal full communion. Pastor Lindquist retired from being in charge of a large church in Poway. Dean Scott Richardson named him Canon for Biblical Studies in October. Jack teaches a 9:15 Sunday morning class on the liturgical Scripture readings for the day. He will also present Saturday morning seminars on current topics Canon Lindquist is preparing a new series on the complicity of Lutheran and Roman Catholic Clergy and churches with the Nazis during the 1930s and their rise to power. He also assists Sunday mornings and at Sunday Evensong.
The Rev. Dorothy Curry retired from a position at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Encinitas, CA. last year. Before that she was rector of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Richmond, CA. Her special interest is pastoral care and hospital chaplaincy work. Dorothy works with our Lay Eucharistic Ministers. She also assists at the morning services, presides at the Friday noon Mass and officiates at Evensong.
The Rev. Canon Joan Ford is back at St. Paul’s assisting with our many Liturgies, helping Canon Rank with television media contacts, and assists with the Hispanic Ministry. She was rector and priest in charge of parishes in the diocese of California before a three year stint in England setting up the Anglican Consultative Council’s world wide media program. Joan is a leader in the International Compass Rose Society and received an honorary doctorate of divinity from the Church Divinity School of the Pacific. Most recently Bishop James Mathes appointed her chair of the diocesan The Katrina and Beyond Task Force.
Tom Wilson Oversees the physical plant needs and assists Christine in the office. Thomas Wilson hails from Ohio and was raised in the Roman Catholic tradition. He has been coming to St. Paul’s since November 2003 and was received into the Episcopal Church in March 2005. Tom is involved in several liturgical ministries and also coordinates the “From Rome To Canterbury” program. Wilson has a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Divinity degree from St. Michael’s College/The Toronto School of Theology. Tom’s work experience includes educational and administrative positions in a variety of venues. He and his partner, John Will, have been together for 18 years.
