Stewardship
“Gifts Seen and Unseen” by the Rev. David L Norgard
With the occurrence of the Annual Meeting of the congregation, the Cathedral again came to the formal conclusion of its annual pledge campaign and again there is good news to report. In the true spirit of stewardship, however, several words of gratitude need to come first.
St. Paul’s once again was blessed by excellent stewardship leadership. David Smith chaired a committee that also included Lisa Crosbie, Norm Crispen, Phemie Davis, Dan DiCarlo, Geoff Fowler, Deedra Hardman, Ted Milby, Don Pellioni, Mary Rathbun, and Ron Storey. All served capably (not to mention with good humor). I also wish to thank the several hosts of the various receptions. These included the Dean’s Warden, Jim Greer, and Hal Glenn; Ed Hand and Stan Harazim; our Dean, the Very Rev. Scott Richardson and the Rev Canon Mary Moreno Richardson; Catherine & Michael Thiemann; and the Stewardship Committee. All were most gracious in their hospitality. Finally, I wish to thank the three witnesses, each of whom spoke eloquently at our Sunday services, Konnie Dadmun, John Shore, and Catherine Thiemann.
And now for the news: As of 10 January (the date of the latest compilation of figures), St. Paul’s had received 342 pledges representing 446 individuals and totaling $802,880! This total makes for an average pledge of $2,348 with the median being $1,200. It is an overall dollar increase of $59,554. And so another acknowledgement is in order. Thanks go to all who have made a financial commitment to the Cathedral for 2006, enabling the extensive ministry which issues from this place, day by day and week by week.
If you have not yet pledged, it is by no means too late to do so. Your pledge will be gratefully received at any time. Simply pick up a pledge card from the pew or the office, complete it, and return it to the office. DLN
