Marcha Migrante II
Senator Gil Cedillo joins Migrant March in Sacramento, California
The Rev. Canon Mary Moreno Richardson and Marcha Migrante II. Mary asks everyone to pray for the caravan by praying the Our Father everyday at 12 noon from Feb.2 through Feb. 17
The Rev. Canon Mary Moreno Richardson left February 2, on Marcha Migrante II with members of Border Angels, founded by Enrique Morones in 2001. Border Angels is a non-profit organization supporting humanity. The organization consists of extraordinary volunteers who want to stop unnecessary deaths of individuals traveling through the Imperial Valley desert areas and the mountain areas surrounding San Diego County, as well as other areas located around the border between the United States and Mexico. The high number of unnecessary deaths have resulted from extreme heat and cold weather conditions. In addition, some have sadly been the results of racial-discrimination crimes. Border Angels provide water stops in the summer and blankets and food in the winter in the desert lands.
The Marcha Migrante II Border Caravan left San Diego on February 2nd and will arrive in Brownsville on the 9th. They will be covering the entire 2000 miles of the US-Mexico border in that time, stopping briefly in most of the border cities. After that the caravan will head up to Farmers Branch and the Hutto prison camp in Taylor, Texas. Canon Richardson will be back in San Diego on February 17.
