Integrity - LGBT & Friends

How to get involved with the LGBT community at St. Paul's

Are you new to St. Paul's and wondering how to get more involved?  Here are some ways:

Come to the Sunday services, coffee hours, and forums

We have Sunday services at 10:30 and 8:00. The 10:30 service is the one that the most people attend. It is the one to come to for music, incense, etc. The 8:00 service is more contemplative.

After both of the Sunday services there is a coffee hour that is great for finding out what’s happening and meeting people.

Sundays from 9:00 to 10:00 we have forums on various topics. You can check this web site or the Sunday bulletins to see what the forum topics will be.

Come to some of the small group and fellowship activities

You can find the groups on the St. Paul’s web site in the site index (at the bottom of the page). For this group, Integrity LGBT & Friends, here are a couple of the things we have planned:

LGBT & Friends Get-Acquainted Brunches

We have these occasionally after the 10:30 service. We will announce them in the services and the news letter.

AIDS Walk

Join Team St. Paul’s Cathedral for the AIDS Walk San Diego 2010 on Sunday September 26th in Balboa Park. You can register to walk at http://aidswalksd.kintera.org/2010/st_pauls_cathedral, or if you are not able to walk, but would like to make it possible for cathedral youth and families to walk by being a sponsor with a donation, please look for the AIDS WALK table in the courtyard during the months of July and September. For more information contact Robert Black at robertblack1@cox.net or 619-501-4025.

Transgender Forum

We are working on a Sunday forum that will discuss transgender issues. We have not set a date yet.

Pride Day Celebration

St. Paul's Integrity helps organize the Cathedral's PRIDE contingent, resulting in one of the largest contingents each year.  Here we are in 2009 as we approached the starting line:

Successful Just Love Conference

St Paul's hosted a Just Love conference to counter the harm done by the "ex-gay" movement. Read about it here:

ST. PAUL'S & INTEGRITY WORKED HARD TO DEFEAT PROP 8

Dean Richardson and Rev. Canon Albert Ogle joined a panel of local faith leaders to discuss next steps in California's struggle for marriage equality.

What is Integrity?
Integrity is the LGBT ministry at St. Paul's Cathedral and is a local affiliate of a national organization of the same name. On the national level, Integrity pursues justice for those it represents, particularly around the full inclusion of lesbian and gay people in the life of the Episcopal Church. It engages in advocacy at General Conventions of the Episcopal Church and other major forums, publishes a journal, The Voice of Integrity, holds annual conferences, and participates in coalitions with other progressive religious groups.

Locally, St. Paul's Integirty is both a fellowhip group as well as a service and educational ministry. Integrity participates in various service projects, such as the Cathedral's Pride outreach and the annual AIDS Walk, helps with hospitality at special Cathedral events, hosts a monthly forum with guest speakers and more.
