Cathedral Choristers
The choir of boys and men was founded in 1963 by then Organist & Choirmaster
Larry King.
Since then, the traditional Anglican sound of boy's and men's voices has
flourished, and remains the only boy's choir in San Diego, and one of only a
handful in the United States.
Currently, the choir sings Evensong services on the first and third Sunday
of the month, as well as Christmas Lessons and Carols, Easter Day, the St.
George Festal Evensong, occasional Sunday Morning services, and a number of
other concerts and outside appearances.
The choir is open to enrollment for boys age 7 and up, with unchanged
voices. Rehearsals are on Wednesdays at 4.30pm in the choir room.
Auditions are held year-round by appointment.

St. Cecilia Choir
A choir for girls was founded in the nineteen-sixties. In 1977 the Girls
Choir was reconstituted as the St. Cecilia Choir of girls and men, making it
an equivalent counterpart to the Choristers.
The treble section of girls aged seven through eighteen (or their Senior
year in High School) creates a different sound from the boys trebles and,
with a higher average, is able to perform some of the more challenging
compositions.
Currently, the choir sings Evensong services on the second and fourth Sunday
of the month, and for Advent Procession, St. Cecilia Day Festal Evensong,
Easter Day, Easter Lessons and Carols, occasional Sunday Morning services,
and a number of other concerts and outside appearances.
The choir is open to enrollment for girls age 7 and up, through their Senior
year of High School.
Rehearsals are on Tuesdays at 4.30pm in the choir room.
Auditions are held year-round by appointment.

Many of our boy and girl choristers appear with the San Diego Opera and the
San Diego Symphony, and in the past have performed with the Mainly Mozart
Festival in San Diego and Tijuana. Both choirs are affiliated with the Royal
School of Church Music, an international network of more than 9,000
affiliated groups and individual members in over 40 countries throughout the
world, based in England.
Cathedral Choir
The Cathedral Choir of mixed adult voices was started at the original St
Paul's Church in the late nineteenth century, and was the first vested choir
in San Diego County. Currently, it consists of a mix of volunteers and paid
professional singers. This choir is heard primarily at the Sunday Morning
Choral Eucharist. Other duties of the choir include singing for special
Feasts and Saints' Days and a number of diocesan events as well as
presenting major choral works in concert on occasion.
Rehearsals are held on Thursday evenings. For further information, or to
schedule an audition, please contact Martin Green.
Cathedral Schola
This group of sixteen professional musicians is dedicated to the
preservation of the great Anglican choral tradition. Founded in 2001, the
Schola sings Evensong when the Cathedral Choristers and the St. Cecilia
Choir are out of session (including much of the summer break) and at other
special services and concerts throughout the year.
